GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in East Durham, NY is one of North America's largest providers of specialty oral healthcare, including Sensodyne, Pronamel, paradontax, Polident, and Aquafresh.

The Analytical Validation Chemist conducts experiments using HPLC/UPLC/GC/IC/MS in support of product method development and validation. Support method and/or product transfer and NPI activity as necessary. Support Operations by performing analytical validation runs as per AS&T guidance on finish products.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Liaises with site laboratory and AS&T to define the criteria and timings for analytical development/validation.
  • Provide training, coaching on new analytical methods
  • Data entry of test results.
  • Execution of test method validation.
  • Preparation, documentation and maintenance of test solutions and standards.
  • Utilize proactive thinking to generate creative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Leads and manages specific safety and quality responsibilities for the department.
  • Makes appropriate independent decisions or offers recommendations to the wider business.
  • Contributes to the development of others by sharing their experience as a mentor / coach.
  • Ensures that GMP, Quality, Health & Safety are considered in all aspects of role
  • Investigate out of specification and out of trend data and recommend CAPA.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and policies

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related discipline


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to provide quick and easy to read reports
  • Understanding of basic statistic knowledge and capable of creating database, understanding pareto analysis and drawing conclusions from the data
  • Knowledge on problem solving techniques, risk assessment evaluations
  • Able to coach and teach others
