A POSTDOCTORAL position is open to recent PhD graduates (under 2 yrs of postdoctoral experience only) in the Hospital for Special Surgery Research Institute /Cornell University School of Medicine. We study: 1) transcriptional and epigenomic control of inflammation by nuclear receptors and other transcription factors and coregulators with central focus on macrophages, 2) regulation of gene expression and long term epigenomic programming of different macrophage populations, 3) the role of microglia in neuroninflammation. We rely on in vitro studies using cultured myeloid cells, a variety of genomic approaches to address genome-wide gene expression, chromatin state and higher order chromatin function, and mouse models of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and their correlates with human pathology [please see detailed description of projects at https://www.rogatskylab.org or http://hss.edu/research-staff_rogatsky-inez.asp ; @RogatskyLab ].
The laboratory is located in the Hospital for Special Surgery Research Institute (HSS RI), and is outfitted with modern equipment and facilities (space fully renovated in 2016). HSS is affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine and is a part of the tri-institutional alliance (HSS - Weill Cornell School of Medicine - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan with superb research environment and exceptional opportunities for professional interaction and growth.
The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, genomics, immunology or neuroscience evidenced by publication record. Please submit electronically (e-mail: inr2005@med.cornell.edu) a CV with a description of research interests (previous experience in biochemistry/molecular biology, genome-wide approaches, and/or animal work is highly desirable) and arrange for three letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf. Initial salary is commensurate with experience; future applications for independent fellowships are encouraged.
HSS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screening, and pre-employment physical examination. For more information about the employment process at HSS, please visit: https://www.hss.edu/careers/careers.htm
