Are you passionate about science and interested in being part of an innovative drug discovery research team? The Novel Human Genetics research unit is seeking an engaging, motivated, and inquisitive bench scientist to support our drug discovery efforts in Neuroinflammation/Neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will be lab-based and be responsible for conducting a variety of in vitro / ex vivo experiments to support our discovery research and portfolio projects using primary rodent neurons or iPSC-derived neurons/ astrocytes/ microglia. Candidate must have the ability to use biochemical/ molecular/ imaging /cell biology techniques to address scientific questions and to perform daily responsibilities. Candidate also must have a proven track record in delivering impactful data to support project teams. Familiarity with neurophysiology is a plus.

As a Senior Scientist of our team, you will be a key contributor to the development of breakthrough medicine by conducting high impact research. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

Key Accountabilities:

• Maintain rodent or iPSC culture for routine experiments

• Design, optimize, and execute experiments independently to support all project needs

• Conduct compound evaluation to support SAR or Lead-op activities

• Utilize critical thinking to interpret data and formulate biological hypothesis

• Adhere to project timeline and commit to deliver high quality data

• Communicate effectively of experimental outcomes to project teams in a timely manner

• Work collaboratively with team members in a matrix environment

• Maintain good records for laboratory notebooks

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • MSc (Biology/ Biotechnology/ Physiology/ Neuroscience) with 2 years or BSc with 5 years experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • 1-2 years industry experience working in matrix environment
  • Experienced in assay development and high throughput screening
  • Working experience with complex 2D or 3D culture
  • Experience demonstrating aseptic cell culture techniques
  • Working experience with immunofluorescence assay, plate- or bead-based immunoassay, molecular biology techniques such as western, qPCR, transfection etc.
  • Ability to handle small laboratory animals and to perform tissue harvest
