Summary
The Research Tissue Support Service Lab in Texas Children's Cancer Center supports clinical researchers within the department as well as other researchers at the hospital. This position will support research with a variety of duties. This position will interact with a variety of individuals. This person will meet daily with clinical research personnel to help plan their ongoing studies, coordinate sample drop-off, shipping and process.
A Research Assistant I will be expected to interact with research nurses, research coordinators, primary investigators and research lab staff. All of these duties an interactions will assist with advancing clinical research that directly and indirectly impacts current and future healthcare at Texas Childen's Hospital. This person will be familiar with all of the ongoing research studies being handled by the RTSS lab and be able to assist with any questions and issues that arise.

Job Duties
- Sample processing, sample shipping/receiving, sample banking, cell culture, and providing access to research equipment.
- Freezing samples, processing samples, maintaining a very accurate inventory, and all aspects of cryo-preservation.
- Recover samples from the biorepository, conduct inventory for regulatory purposes, plan for expansion of equipment and interact with the Bio-Medical department regarding equipment issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
