Summary

This position will work closely and in partnership with the Pediatrics Division Head and Supervisor, Business Operations of IAR managing the administrative and financial operations of research studies or clinical trials. Manages a robust research enterprise that includes $4 million grant funding annually. This position will manage two direct reports (pre/post research administration). The work will require interacting with busy clinicians.

Job Duties

  • Manage pre- and/or post- award grant management activities.
  • Oversee and responsible for approximately $3 million in grant awards and other research activity.
  • Provide financial management and accountability, including developing budgets, monitoring budget and grant expenditures, reconciling accounts, financial reporting, and ensuring federal and institutional accounting standards are met.
  • Collaborate with Division HR Administrator (Supervisor, Business Operations) related to grant cost and effort distribution.
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing quality assurance and quality control measures/oversight and ensuring adherence to Division and College research policies and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee research staff employees. Includes assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, maintaining schedules, and providing feedback during annual performance management.
  • Assist and establish goals for research support employees.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and grant expenses.
  • Reconcile accounts, financial reporting and ensuring adherence to federal and institutional accounting standards.
  • Assist with post-award grant set up procedures.
  • Responsible for relaying cost and effort updates to the Division HR administrator or providing updates in PEPT.
  • Establish and implement quality assurance and quality control measures/oversight and ensure adherence to Division and College research policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide financial statements to principal investigators.
  • Supervise research support staff, including assigning tasks, checking work completion, maintaining schedules and providing feedback during annual performance management.
  • Assist and establish goals for research support employees.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise research administrative staff.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Research management experience in the academic industry
  • Clinical trial experience (receive contract from sponsor, putting together a budget, negotiate with sponsor, clinical trial management system, per patient reimbursement negotiating and invoice, work/interact with busy clinicians)
