Job Details
A full-time Postdoctoral position is immediately available from the laboratory of Dr. Jianning Tao in the Cancer Biology and Immunotherapies Group at Sanford Research. Our research focuses on signaling pathways that control development and tissue homeostasis, and their roles in cancer biology and therapy. The Tao lab (https://research.sanfordhealth.org/researchers-and-labs/tao-lab) utilizes cellular, genetic approaches and next-generation sequencing methods to discover key determinants of cell plasticity, self-renewal, and differentiation in mesenchymal lineage cells as well as those factors in the cancer stem cell niche that promotes metastasis of cancers such as osteosarcoma. We are looking for motivated individuals to study preclinical models and patient-derived tumor cells to understand the biology of pediatric cancer and identify more effective therapies.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on experiments and analyze/interpret data on assigned projects
- Participate in project planning and execution
- Attend and present at the project and group meetings and national conferences
- Present and report research results and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality program requirements
- Maintain strong dedication to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics
Basic Qualifications:
- A recent PhD in biology or life sciences, or a closely related discipline completed within the past two years
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong background in cancer biology and/or bone biology and performing hands on experience in cell and molecular biology
- Excellent record of productive and creative research as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate to scientific audience
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory
