Post-Doctoral Fellows

The UNC Greensboro Department of Biology endeavors toward excellence in conducting research and teaching biological concepts and skills to biology majors and graduate students, to prepare them for professional careers and more advanced study. We introduce non-biology majors to the foundations and applications of biology. By involving undergraduate and graduate students in research, we contribute to an increase society’s knowledge across the broad spectrum of biology. We train doctoral students in Environmental Health Science, a complex and rapidly changing discipline. Through laboratory training and directed research experiences, we enhance our students’ technical and analytical skills so that they can contribute meaningfully to an increasingly technological world. Our leadership in scientific innovation and discovery serves our students, profession, and our local and global communities.
 

  • Two postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Ramji Bhandari https://biology.uncg.edu/bhandari-lab/ at UNC Greensboro, USA, to study molecular mechanisms underlying transgenerational inheritance of environmentally induced developmental origins of adverse health outcomes.
  •   One position is for cell and molecular biology and the other position is for bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequencing data and artificial intelligence. 
  • The incumbent for cell and molecular biology position will assist the faculty mentor, Dr. Ramji Bhandari, in performing experiments related to developmental origins of health and disease using mammalian cell culture and animal (fish & rodent) models. Research duties include but are not limited to cell culture, immunostaining, CRISPR-dCas9 epigenome editing, data analysis, etc.
  • The incumbent for bioinformatician position will perform computational analysis of sequencing data. The successful candidates will work closely with the PI to ensure the smooth operation of the lab, and the PI will mentor the fellows for professional development.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or environmental toxicology for cell and molecular biology position and Computational Biology or bioinformatics for bioinformatics position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to the applicant with at least one year of work experience in an environmental toxicology/health laboratory setting.
