The Cardiovascular Translational Research Center and the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine invite applications for a joint tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.  The University of South Carolina School of Medicine was formed in the late 1970s and has experienced substantial growth in its research and educational programs.  As part of this growth, the Cardiovascular Translational Research Center (CTRC) was formally established in 2019 with the goal of improving cardiovascular health in South Carolina and beyond in part through cutting-edge research and training of the next generation of diverse cardiovascular scientists.  Many members of the CTRC have tenure-track appointments in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy with research expertise in diverse areas of cardiovascular disease including hypertension, atherosclerosis, cardiotoxicity, heart failure and others.  Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., D.O. or D.V.M. and appropriate postdoctoral experience in a research area that integrates with the focus areas of the CTRC and Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy.

Successful candidates are expected to establish an externally-funded research program of national and international prominence.  Candidates are also expected to demonstrate dedication to and participate in educational programs in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy, which teaches highly respected courses in human anatomy, histology, cell biology, biochemistry and other areas in the medical and graduate educational programs at the university.  Appointed faculty will receive strong mentorship from senior faculty in the School of Medicine and may be eligible for target faculty status on multi-investigator grants centered at the University of South Carolina including NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) and IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) programs.

Applicants should submit their application including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research plan, teaching statement and contact information of at least three references through the University of South Carolina online jobs portal (https://uscjobs.sc.edu/postings/119700 ).  The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
