We are seeking a microbiologist to work on antibiotic discovery and characterization. The successful applicant will join a team of talented researchers at the Antimicrobial Discovery Center. The specific project is to identify additional members of the darobactin class of compounds (Imai et al., Nature 2019; Hundeep et al., Nature 2021), and identify a lead for development into a drug. The project will involve creating a large library of compounds by manipulating the biosynthetic operon, and screening it for production and activity using a single-cell approach.

The appointment will be for a minimum of 2 years with possible extension. Highly competitive salary, and a package of benefits.

The campus is in a pleasant location in the heart of downtown Boston, in the Longwood Medical area, near restaurants, walking distance to Fenway park, the art Museum and the Symphony. Please e-mail a CV and names of 3 references to Dr. Kim Lewis, (Antimicrobial Discovery Center, Department of Biology, Northeastern University, 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115).
