Summary

We are seeking talented and productive scholars, with experience and training in genetic epidemiology and an interest in developing their career in the area of cancer health disparities. This is a 3-year flexible program with personalized educational curricula and individually tailored multidisciplinary teams of mentors with ongoing research in a variety of pediatric and adult cancers. The training provides epidemiology and bioinformatics fellows with the specialized skills to incorporate novel high-throughput technologies into large-scale collaborative epidemiology studies and to become successful, cross-trained researchers. Exciting opportunities also exist to work with faculty from MD Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University and UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics

Job Duties

  • Analyze large data sets
  • Analyze next generation sequencing data (e.g., RNA-seq, whole genome/ exome sequencing)
  • Use state-of-the-art bioinformatical and statistical tools
  • Develop new statistical methods to answer biological questions that arise in the research
  • Work in a team environment


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience Required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. epidemiologists or bioinformaticians or M.D.s/DVMs with related experience and 2 years of research experience.
  • Prior experience with next generation sequencing data analysis is a plus.
  • Background in behavioral/environmental epidemiology is a plus.
  • Knowledge in cancer biology or genetics is preferable.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
