Summary

The Di Stefano lab ( distefano-lab.com ) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, with interests in RNA biology and stem cell biology, to work on the role of RNA condensates in mammalian cell fate. Specifically, the goal of the lab is to understand how the sequestration of RNAs in sub-cellular condensates controls establishment and maintenance of cell identity during development and in tissue homeostasis. The laboratory provides a rich training environment and access to cutting-edge techniques.

Recent relevant publications from the principal investigator include:

• Cell identity and plasticity uncoupled. Nature Cell Biology 2022.
• The RNA helicase DDX6 controls cellular plasticity by modulating P-body homeostasis. Cell Stem Cell 2019.
• Nudt21 Controls Cell Fate by Connecting Alternative Polyadenylation to Chromatin Signaling. Cell 2018.
• Reduced MEK inhibition confers a growth advantage and preserves genomic stability in naïve human ES cells. Nature Methods 2018.
• C/EBPα poises B cells for rapid reprogramming into induced pluripotent stem cells. Nature 2014.

Job Duties

  • Highly motivated candidates with a recent Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in biomedical sciences and significant experience in stem cell biology, molecular biology, RNA biology, and hematopoiesis are encouraged to apply.
  • The candidate is expected to plan, direct, and conduct specialized and advanced research experiments, to evaluate and analyze data, and to summarize research findings for publication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • A strong track record of reporting previous work via publication and presentation.
