Summary

A Postdoctoral Associate position in the laboratory of Shinya Yamamoto in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine is available. Successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience or related fields, and previous experiences using Drosophila melanogaster is highly preferred but not required. The candidate is expected to drive and take ownership of their research project, design and perform biological experiments with rigor, work collaboratively with members within and outside of the lab, be highly organized and communicative, and maintain high work ethics.

Job Duties

  • Designs and conducts scientific experiments.
  • Generates molecular and genetic tools.
  • Maintains and organizes experimental resources.
  • Collects and analyzes data,
  • Writes primary research and review manuscripts support grant proposal and grant report submission.
  • Mentor other trainees (e.g. graduate students, undergraduate students, junior postdocs, research technicians),
  • Participates in regulator laboratory and departmental meetings.
  • Performs experiments proposed in a recently awarded NIH grant, R01-AG071557.


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • The applicant must have or will be obtaining a Ph.D. in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience or related fields prior to the start day.
  • Previous experiences in working with fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) is preferred but not required.
  • Expertise in molecular biological, biochemical, cell biological techniques will be considered as an advantage. T
  • The applicant should have a strong publication record (at least one peer reviewed primary research article) and have experiences in presenting (poster, oral) at national or international meetings.
