Description: The Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology, in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University, invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidates will join a newly organized research center dedicated to the use of gene therapy in the treatment of human disease. The successful applicant will either develop or have an established research program in gene therapy depending on rank of hire. Individuals with experience in capsid evolution of AAV and individuals with a focus on specific disorders with novel approaches are particularly encouraged to apply. The aim is to build a collaborative environment that rapidly moves gene therapy through preclinical phases so that it can be applied in the clinic. The department has investigators who have worked on translating gene therapy for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy that have made major advances in bringing gene therapy to the clinic. Furthermore, the department has complementing expertise in RNA biology, epigenetics, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolism. The department envisions an interactive environment that moves therapies forward to the clinic. Any questions can be directed to the chair of the search, Dr. Arthur Burghes, through Jessica Berner at jessica.berner@osumc.edu.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral research experience. A proven record of accomplishments in gene therapy-related research and a strong publication record are required. Applicants at the Associate and Full Professor levels should have current federal funding for their research program. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies.
