Postdoc positions in Spatial and Functional Genomics are available at the Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute (NCI), NIH, under the joint supervision of Drs. Eytan Ruppin, Kenneth Aldape, and Peng Jiang. The candidate will develop spatial genomics workflows in clinical tumor samples, murine models, and functional CRISPR screens in primary cell models. The overarching goal is to understand the process of cancer immune evasion and therapy resistance through a combination of spatial and functional genomics, including spatial transcriptomics and multiplexed protein-based tissue imaging, utilizing data science approaches for analysis.

This wet-lab postdoc position will benefit substantially from the full support from the artificial intelligence and big-data experts in the team to develop novel discovery frameworks. Also, the candidate will access specimens from cancer model systems and an extensive repository of human tumor samples from pathology archives. Meanwhile, the candidate will benefit from receiving bioinformatics and programming training on analyzing large-scale high-dimensional omics data and working closely with data science experts in the corresponding labs.

Dr. Ruppin is the Chief of the Cancer Data Science Lab at the NCI, where Dr. Peng is a Principal Investigator. Dr. Aldape is the Chief of Pathology at NCI. All teams belong to the Center for Cancer Research, the basic and clinical intramural research program of NCI, NIH. The NIH Bethesda campus near Washington DC is a world-renowned medical research facility. Candidates will significantly benefit from the team mentorship of world-class cancer biologists and the abundant resource supporting many national-scale projects.
