This group is responsible for DMPK representation in all Discovery projects in the GSK pipeline in the US. The individual will lead this US-based group and ensure that our DMPK science is embedded in Discovery projects. As a senior leader in the DMPK organization, the candidate needs to ensure that project specialists are applying world class science to drive a translational understanding of drug disposition and PKPD in projects in a collaborative manner with key stakeholders in other organizations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the Discovery DMPK US Project Specialist with several senior project specialists at our US sites. Drive best practice sharing across the team in support of global DMPK strategic direction. Develop and maintain excellent working relations with key stakeholders in GSK R&D, in order to ensure strategic alignment and optimal cross-functional collaboration and communication. Ensure that translational PKPD approaches and appropriate screening cascades with multiparametric optimization are being applied in Discovery projects in collaboration with other groups in DMPK. Responsible for coordinating and ensuring high-quality DMPK contributions to technical project documents. Efficiently manage demand and capacity of the DMPK Project Specialist US group to ensure optimal support of all projects in the GSK Discovery pipeline. Develop and grow talent to build a high-performing DMPK Project Specialist group in the US. The ideal candidate will be/have: In-depth experience in DMPK representation in Discovery projects with different modalities (e.g. small molecule, mAb) through excellent communication skills and collaboration. Experience in applying state-of-the-art DMPK concepts in the successful discovery of drug candidates through efficient screening cascades such as multiparametric optimization, translational PKPD and human dose optimization strategies. Experience in leveraging modeling approaches and predictive science in Discovery projects to accelerate timelines and increase probability of success. An enthusiastic leader with a proven track record to build and lead high-performing teams. Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD in field relevant to DMPK (e.g. Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Pharmacokinetics or Drug Metabolism) 10 years or more of industry experience Experience with state-of-the-art DMPK science in projects to enable the discovery of new medicines. Experience with engagement with external DMPK science community and consortia; and key opinion leaders. Experience managing budgets and resources. Leadership experience to coach/mentor, develop and performance-manage staff. Preferred Qualifications: Strength in managing cross-matrix teams, with demonstrated experience in strategy development.
