Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Apr 29 2022 We are looking for a talented investigator to join our growing Clinical Histotechnology group at Upper Providence. This laboratory-based position will provide biomarker assay support to early-stage clinical trials across GSK's wide portfolio of assets. The individual in this role will develop and evaluate clinical biomarker assays using immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF) and in situ hybridization (ISH) techniques, as well as utilize high-plex imaging platforms including Digital Spatial Profiling (DSP) and Imaging Mass Cytometry (IMC). They will also use Image Analysis software (HALO) to develop automated and machine-learning (AI) algorithms to measure tissue biomarker expression to provide quantitative data to clinical teams. This exciting role will provide you with the opportunity to lead key biomarker projects as well as be involved in many other activities to progress your career. Responsibilities include: Use a broad knowledge of histotechnology to guide clinical teams towards the best-suited biomarkers and assays across GSK's wide portfolio of projects. Develop single- and multi-plex IHC/IF/ISH and/or high-plex assays using automated platforms including Ventana Discovery Ultra, Leica Bond RX, Nanostring DSP and Hyperion IMC. Develop and evaluate automated and/or machine learning (AI) algorithms using Image Analysis software (HALO) software to generate quantitative analytical data. Work closely with GSK Pathologists to critically evaluate biomarker assays and image analysis algorithms to ensure high quality results. Compile reports and write standard operating procedures, analytical methods, and protocols. Provide necessary training and help troubleshoot issues within the team. Develop trusted connections in the histotechnology and wider scientific community (internally and externally to GSK) through meetings, publications and presentations at conferences hosted by professional societies. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor's/Master's degree in biological sciences or a relevant scientific field (immunology, molecular biology, cancer biology, neurobiology). Experience in inflammatory diseases and/or immuno-oncology. Experience in microtomy. 2 years' IHC experience developing single- and multi-plex IHC/IF/ISH biomarker assays or using high-plex IMC or DSP platforms. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD in biological science or a relevant scientific field (immunology, molecular biology, cancer biology neurobiology). 1-2 years' experience using Image Analysis software to develop automated and machine-learning (AI) algorithms to quantify IHC/IF/ISH assays.
