Site Name: USA - Massachusetts - Cambridge Posted Date: May 18 2022 GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is committed to developing medicines for global health challenges including respiratory, immuno-inflammation, oncology and infectious diseases. We know that finding cures means not just finding new drugs but finding new ways to discover drugs. The Immunology Research Unit identifies and develops novel therapeutic targets for patients with unmet medical need, through leveraging strong genetic datasets, building drug hypotheses from output of functional genomic CRISPR editing screens and performing hands-on experimentation using a wide range of molecular and cellular techniques suitable for drug target identification and validation. Our Genomic Immunology group strives to explore that rich data landscape to derive crucial insight, and to integrate directly with our groundbreaking experimental science. This approach maximizes the probability of delivering successful clinical candidates, and ultimately helping people to do more, feel better and live longer. Description: The Investigator position will reside in the Genomic Immunology Group within the Immunology Department and will be based in Cambridge, MA. This individual will work independently and/or in partnership with cross-functional project dynamic teams in a multidisciplinary matrixed environment to investigate the biology of novel immune targets using functional molecular genomic tools, to evaluate the effects of newly developed drug lead candidates on immune cell functions and to make significant and high-impact contributions in multiple GSK drug discovery programs. Responsibilities: Identify and validate discovery targets using human genetics, single cell transcriptomics, cellular assays and/or inflammatory disease models. Design and perform molecular and cellular assays suitable for drug target identification and validation. Generate, analyze, interpret, present experimental results at various meetings to partners/collaborators and collaboratively plan experimental paths forward. Lead and/or support project teams in collaboration with scientists from multiple functional areas.
