The Haverford College Biology Department seeks applications for two full-time visiting faculty positions and one part-time visiting faculty position for the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful candidates will contribute to our curriculum at a variety of levels, working with undergraduate students from diverse racial, gender, socio-economic, geographic, academic, and social backgrounds and identities.  

Teaching responsibilities for these positions span our curriculum and include participation in team-taught courses and laboratories, as well as receiving teaching credit for supervision of student research.  Areas of interest include microbiology/virology, bioinformatics/biostatistics, anatomy/physiology, or ecology/environmental studies, but expertise is welcomed from other sub-disciplines.  Interest in, or experience with, team teaching across STEM disciplinary boundaries is highly valued. Candidates must have completed a PhD, and additional postdoctoral experience is preferred. 

Haverford College is a small undergraduate liberal arts college four miles from Philadelphia with outstanding and highly motivated undergraduate students; we use research as a teaching tool, and all students complete original research as their capstone project. The statement of teaching interests, professional goals, and recent research activities should describe the candidate’s teaching and mentoring experience and teaching philosophy as well as explicitly state the candidate’s approach and philosophy around supporting the learning of a diverse student body. Candidates should also arrange for recommenders to separately upload two confidential letters of recommendation.
