The Sr Research Assistant will apply technical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design, supervise and carry out research projects in cellular signaling and drug design. Impacts cancer research efforts throughout the institution.

Key Functions

1. To identify the novel targets that have a synergistic effect on tumors treated with MEK inhibitors of gliomas.

2. To combine simultaneous analysis of high-throughput oncogenomic data, translational protein changes by reverse phase protein microarrays (RPPA) and functional RNAi screening to identify compensatory pathway activation and resistance to MEK inhibitors to identify the co-targets.

3. To validate the co-targets, preclinical evaluation will be achieved with the use of disease-relevant models, supported by (molecular) imaging and pharmacodynamic analysis of tumor tissue.

4. To conduct research into DNA damage Repair pathways, DNA Damage Response and Oncogenic Signaling. Our goal is to combine a basic understanding of DNA repair pathways in tumors with the development of biomarkers that predict tumor response to DNA damaging chemotherapies as well as DNA repair pathway inhibitors.
