Appointment of President

Sage Bionetworks has obtained a level of stability and esteem within the scientific ecosystem, and we are now in a position to look for a visionary President to further expand our impact on the nature of scientific discovery.

Sage Bionetworks is a nonprofit that drives to accelerate the translation of data-intensive science into medicine. Drawing on our roots in open science, we develop and apply community practices to address barriers that have limited the implementation and interpretation of computational biomedical research. We are modernizing how biomedical data and insights are collected, managed and used, and we partner with scientists in academia, industry and the nonprofit sectors to ensure that data-intensive science programs lead to actionable results. Sage Bionetworks is seeking a new President to serve as the strategic and operational lead of the organization. The next President will lead the creation, funding and implementation of Sage’s strategic goals. We are looking for an inspirational leader who will bring a strong sense of vision to the organization. Sage has built a strong foundation over the past decade - a strong reputation as a trusted leader in the field, an excellent team, a broad suite of collaborators across the field of biomedical data science, and a broad body of work.

You will build on this foundation to take the organization forward into the next decade. This next stage will require experimentation and exploration to find the best way for the organization to promote use of open practices to increase the reliability of scientific claims and to speed the translation of science to medicine.

The President is responsible for providing strategic vision and organizational management to all aspects of the organization’s programs, communications, fundraising and engagements. The President drives strategic, operational, and financial decisions and works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, donors, and programmatic partners to accomplish the goals and objectives that will advance the organization’s mission.
