ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced clinical data informatics scientist (CDIS) to join Pfizer's Early Clinical Development biospecimens (human biofluids) team. The CDIS will support informatics activities related to clinical trial biospecimens, including consent, collection, associated data, tracking data, and integration of such from multiple sources throughout a biospecimens' lifecycle. The CDIS will provide data management and technical expertise in developing data access, visualization, and reporting strategies to enable reconciliation of biospecimen data collected during clinical trials.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement systems to track biospecimens from (1) collection at the site, (2) transfer to central labs and/or analysis labs, (3) the generation of results, and (4) loading of results into the clinical data base
  • Integrate clinical trial data and biospecimen tracking data to identify the specimen status and location of specific sub-groups of interest
  • Identify operational inefficiencies within the specimen life cycle and provide strategic operational and informatics recommendations to streamline processes and procedures, lead or support implementation of informatics solutions where appropriate
  • Assist in the timely and accurate fulfillment of biospecimen requests
  • Support Clinical Platform teams in developing requirements for platform solutions related to biospecimen tracking
  • Provide subject-matter expertise regarding Case Report Form modules associated with banked biospecimens
  • Support the implementation and functional enhancement of informatics systems in ECD
  • Represent CGB team on cross-functional projects related to data management/informatics/biospecimen collection and tracking
  • May support maintaining the collection of genomic data generated from banked biospecimens


QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or related discipline, with 5 years of applicable experience; Masters with 3 years of experience, or PhD
  • Experience in developing R applications, data visualizations, reporting of integrated data
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate in a matrixed team environment
  • Experience working with clinical trial data, and understanding of clinical trial database design and CRF module design and implementation
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing new operational procedures in partnership with customers and stakeholders
  • Understanding of database structure and ability to write queries (e.g. SQL) against databases.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience working with clinical data in a regulated environment
  • Experience working with common genetics data format such as PLINK
  • A working knowledge of biospecimen management principles
