At Pfizer-Boulder we are focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of targeted small molecule drugs to treat patients afflicted with cancer.

This position is responsible for performing daily husbandry, handling, restraint, and health surveillance of laboratory animals to support pharmacology and toxicology studies.You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of animal supplies and provide technical assistance (i.e., restraint, injections, blood collections) in support of research studies. The ideal candidate will have previous in vivo experience, participate in regularly scheduled meetings, and independently complete activities for on-going pharmacology and toxicology studies.

What You Will Achieve
  • Perform routine animal husbandry duties independently.
  • Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, behavior.
  • Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
  • S upport cage wash equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Support research by providing specialty technical services (dose administration, blood collection, record keeping and additional services) to research investigators.
  • T rain and mentor new hires in animal husbandry and facility support duties fulfilling department training requirements.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years in vivo laboratory experience or BS and 1+ years in vivo laboratory experience or Associate's and 2+ years in vivo laboratory experience.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliability to consistently meet work hours is required.
  • Basic computer knowledge, such as email, online forms, web-based training, and other basic programs.


Nice-to-Have
  • Previous veterinary technician/animal care experience
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical setting
  • AALAS certification


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lifting, standing, walking, bending, and handling small rodents.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work standing up lifting items above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as: pushing and pulling racks of caging, lifting bags of feed and bedding, reaching, stooping, and bending.


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Weekend and holiday hours required
  • This is an Essential Personnel role: Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.

  • The salary for this position ranges from 27.46 - 43.93 USD per hour. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company's policies.
