ROLE SUMMARY

The incumbent contributes to programs that support the Early Bioprocess Development Department at Pfizer vaccine R&D division toward expressing vaccine antigens of interest in bacterial or cell culture. The incumbent is expected to provide analytical support to optimize the production of in vitro transcription (IVT) of RNAs and the template preparation for IVTs. The position is also expected to prepare plasmids/DNA templates for antigen production. Experience in RNA handling to support the design of processes for bulk production of RNA drug substances would be highly desirable.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs experiments to evaluate the preparation of DNA templates and IVT reactions for the production of RNAs
  • Responsible for the reagents supply & maintenance of the equipment analyzing the IVT mRNA
  • Assists senior researchers in the evaluation of new technologies for the group
  • Gains understanding of the discipline through reading of the scientific literature
  • Summarizes data and presents data within the group
  • Documents experimental results in electronic notebooks in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Flexible to work in the evening hours or in the weekends if experiments warrant.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Biotechnology
  • Previous work experience in a microbiology, biotechnology, or molecular biology laboratory settings
  • Experience or knowledge in analytical techniques such as DNA/RNA isolation and quantification, SDS-PAGE, HPLC, droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) & Fragment Analysis
  • Ability to organize and execute experiments in a meticulous & timely manner with limited supervision
  • Collaborates in a team environment
  • Ability to organize and analyze data


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Work at off-hours if required by experiments.
  • Work in BSL-2 labs/facility
