The successful candidate will join the Genome Biology group within Genomic Sciences (GS). In partnership with Research Units and the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) group, we strive to expand our understanding of the genetics of disease and associated cellular endophenotypes, reveal mechanisms of drug action and resistance, and fuel the discovery of new targets and combination therapies. Key Responsibilities: Develop, optimize and deploy protocols for mammalian cell-based assays Maintain and characterize human cell line cultures. Contribute to capability development and arrayed screening programs. Develop and effectively apply a broad spectrum of practical laboratory skills. Present clear and concise written and oral communications to colleagues and supervisors, participate in technical meetings, and provide recommendations based on technical results. Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, ethics codes, work practice training and standards. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology or a life science field with 2+ years of research experience. Proficient in the culture and maintenance of cell lines or primary cells. Experience in molecular techniques such as DNA isolation, PCR, Sanger sequencing or primer design. Experience in developing assays to characterize human cells (e.g. CellTiter-Glo, high throughput flow cytometry or image-based high content screening). Experience with gene editing or modulation techniques (siRNA, CRISPR, TALE, RNAi). Preferred Qualifications: Scientific expertise in genetics, immunology, or oncology Experience working in an industry or pharma setting. Familiarity with automation techniques such as liquid handlers (e.g. Hamilton Bravo, GNF Washer/Dispenser) and multidrop dispensers. Expertise in development and execution of high-throughput arrayed phenotypic screening. Experience with high throughput electroporation platforms or high throughput genomic profiling. Familiarity with lentiviral transduction in cell lines and primary cells. Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), with the ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels. Ability to think creatively, demonstrate flexibility, and engage with team members while troubleshooting and optimizing assays with a willingness to learn in a matrix team environment. Track record of attention to detail and the ability to maintain detailed laboratory notebook records. Why GSK?
