Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence, USA - Pennsylvania - Philadelphia Posted Date: Apr 26 2022 The Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Research Unit (IOC RU) is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Senior Scientist to execute immune assays to characterize small molecules/biologics and support preclinical development of immune-based therapies for cancer. In this lab-based role, the successful candidate will expand state-of-the-art in vitro, and ex vivo assay capabilities at a growing GSK site and support novel target identification efforts. Applying a translational mindset, you will cultivate and work in a dynamic and collaborative environment to interrogate mechanisms of action and pharmacology of novel therapeutics, supporting GSK's diverse immuno-oncology pipeline from early discovery to first time-in-human commitment. We are looking for a creative, proactive, and goal-oriented scientist with a deep curiosity and enthusiasm for uncovering novel biology. You will be accountable for generating high quality, robust data and must have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary matrix team. Additionally, you will need to be a collegial team player, open to the ideas of others, and embody a truth-seeking and inclusive culture. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Independently and as part a team establish novel in vitro and ex vivo immunological assays for use in target validation and progression of drug candidates Provide experimental evidence and insight into the mechanism of action and/or therapeutic potential of IO assets Maintain an active knowledge of external developments in the field and adapt work plans in response to emergent data in the field of immuno-oncology Analyze, summarize, and communicate experimental results in a timely manner to program teams Engage and share expertise within the IOC Research Unit Work in a matrix team environment to enable optimum delivery of project and department objectives to the highest possible scientific standard Work to ensure that program team deadlines and milestones are achieved Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, safety, best practice, and laboratory standards Why You? Basic Qualifications: A BS or a MS in a life sciences discipline with academic and/or industry laboratory experience (minimum 2 years of experience for BS) Experience in oncology is not required. Immunology experience with indications outside of oncology such as autoimmunity or infectious diseases will also be considered Expertise in experimental design, execution, assay development and data analysis Understanding of immunology and/or molecular and cell biology gained through research experience Experience with multicolor flow cytometry and cytokine quantification Experience record keeping and a very high standard of data integrity Written and verbal communication skills Works independently and deliver high-quality, consistent results in a timely fashion Preferred Qualifications: Experience with culturing primary immune cell populations Practical experience in genome editing including CRISPR editing Experience with transcriptomic platforms such as nanostring and RNA-seq. Experience with CyTOF Understanding of bioinformatic analysis tools for transcriptomic data Experience working in a cross functional matrix team Why GSK?
