Apply chemical biology platform technologies to identify the most promising biological targets and create drug discovery programs Evaluate a range of therapeutic modality options to identity the most appropriate to drug difficult to drug targets Drive and direct chemical biology functions for multiple projects at a time, working with partners in medicinal chemistry, discovery analytical, disease area biology, and other key functions Build strong relationships across the organization to translate new advances in technologies into pipeline impact towards delivering innovative therapeutics Have the opportunity to coach and mentor individuals, participate in departmental and network-wide activities such as recruiting, resource-management and external engagement, as well as communicate with governance committees and external collaborators Be responsible for driving employee engagement within Discovery through the promotion of diversity and inclusion initiatives and supporting a culture of innovation Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: MS or BS w/10+ years' work experience in Chemistry/Chemical Biology or a related discipline in a pharma, biotech, or academic setting Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD or equivalent 5+ years' work experience in Chemistry/Chemical Biology or a related discipline in a pharma, biotech or academic setting Track record of successful program team leadership including deriving, implementing, and executing scientific strategy on program teams to key decision points Experience in target selection, target validation, hit to lead, and lead optimization within a drug discovery team Highly self-motivated, creative, and critical thinking to solve complex technical and scientific problems with excellent attention to detail Ability to build strong, inclusive relationships in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary teams to effectively drive early drug discovery initiatives Experience managing lab based PhD level scientists and a strong track record of lab based delivery Communicating effectively in a highly productive multi-disciplinary environment Capable of prioritizing deliverables among multiple simultaneous projects Experience with standard modalities (small molecule and antibody) as well as an understanding of new modalities (covalent, ADCs, protacs) Robust publication record Strong organizational and time management skills Why GSK?
