A postdoctoral fellow position is open to study immunovirotherapy with genetically engineered oncolytic herpes simplex viruses. The overarching focus of the laboratory is maximizing this promising therapy to target pediatric brain tumors through approaches designed to favorably alter the tumor microenvironment and stimulate an antitumor immune response. Opportunities exist to study mechanisms of therapeutic resistance so that newer viruses, novel combinations, and unique routes of virus delivery may be developed to circumvent resistance mechanisms.

The selected candidate will be expected to apply a wide variety of specialized & advanced techniques, primarily in cell and molecular biology and general and molecular virology. The successful candidate must be able to handle and work with mice and will be expected to be able to perform surgeries.

Prior experience in virology and immunology is highly desirable, but most importantly, the position requires a high level of self-motivation. The successful candidate must be innovative and interested in pursuing an independent research effort upon successful completion of the fellowship.  Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree required.
