At the Faculty of Biology and Psychology of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, in cooperation with the Cluster of Excellence "Multiscale Bioimaging" (MBExC), a temporary position is available.   Junior Research Group Leader with Tenure Track Option (E15 TV-L t.t. W2 NBesO) (f/m/d) of the professorship "Zebrafish Neurobiology”. The Cluster of Excellence "Multiscale Bioimaging: From Molecular Machines to Excitable Cell Networks (MBExC)" is an interdisciplinary, cross-faculty research center at the University of Göttingen. It pursues a novel research approach in modern biological imaging, in particular photonics, molecular biosciences, neurosciences and cardiovascular research. The goal of the MBExC is to decipher disease-relevant functional units at the nanoscale in neurons, sensory cells and cardiomyocytes to unravel fundamental biological principles at an increasing level of complexity from the molecular to the nanoscale to the network and organ levels (https://www.mbexc.de). The Department of Biology and Psychology, in collaboration with the MBExC, seeks a Junior Research Group Leader (E 15 TV-L) with tenure-track option (W2 NBesO) to conduct research in the area of modern zebrafish neurobiology with a focus on multiscale interactions at the molecular, cellular, and behavioral levels. Research on sensory/motor systems and the use of real-time imaging of neural processes are welcome. The applicant should have an outstanding track record in neuroscience. A teaching background in cell biology/neuroscience is expected. The position will be based at the European Neuroscience Institute (ENI) and affiliated with the Johann Friedrich Blumenbach Institute of Zoology and Anthropology at the Faculty of Biology and Psychology. An interdisciplinary research environment provided by the host faculty and the MBExC is guaranteed. The junior research group leader position is initially limited to a period of three years. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment contract is extended for a further three years. The appointment to a tenured professorship without advertisement (W2) is made after a further positive evaluation. Further details can be found in §§ 19 to 24 of the Regulations for the Appointment of Junior Professors and Temporary Professors and Tenure Track Professors (BaZ-TT-0). The Endowment University of Göttingen has the right of appointment. Details will be provided upon request. Recruitment requirements are: a completed academic university degree, the special aptitude for in-depth independent scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, and a pedagogical-didactic aptitude. Applications from scientists from abroad are explicitly welcome. The University of Göttingen strives to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are underrepresented and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. It also sees itself as a family-friendly university and promotes the compatibility of science/profession and family. The university has set itself the goal of employing more severely disabled people. Applications from severely disabled persons will be given preference if they have the same qualifications. Online applications with curriculum vitae, list of publications, and information on teaching and research experience as well as a short research plan are to be submitted as a single PDF file by May 14th, 2022 to: Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Dean's Office of the Faculty of Biology and Psychology, Wilhelm-Weber-Str. 2, 37073 Göttingen, Email: dekanbio@gwdg.de For further information on the research profile of the MBExC (https://www.mbexc.de), please contact Dr. Fritz Kobe (Scientific Coordinator, e-mail: Fritz.Kobe@med.uni-goettingen.de, phone: +49 551 39 61946).
