Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Field(s) of Specialization: Medicine, Cardiology, Atherosclerosis, Metabolism, Functional genomics, single cell RNA sequencing, human heart disease
Description: The Reilly Cardiometabolic Genomics research group seeks a postdoctoral research scientist. The successful candidate ideally should have grounding in functional genomics and molecular biology in pursuit of the genetic and molecular basis of human diseases. Experience in genetic discovery (e.g., GWAS, exome/DNA-seq, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq etc.) and related functional model systems (e.g. human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), gene editing, or humanized mouse models are desirable. They will focus on functional genomics studies of cardiovascular disease, including translationally-relevant mouse models of residual risk after lipid lowering (regression studies). The NIH-sponsored project will involve cutting-edge single cell sequencing technologies, functional genomics and transcriptomics, molecular biology techniques, RNA biology techniques, cell culture, human translation and use of biobank data and materials, and potentially rodent modeling. An ability to work independently as well as in a strong team-science environment is required.
Minimum qualifications for Grade:
Applicant MUST meet this minimum qualifications to be considered:
Requires a PhD, MD-PhD, or equivalent doctoral training. Experience in functional genomics, molecular biology, cell culture, and mouse models of human cardiometabolic disease.
Additional Position-Specific Qualifications
Applicants meeting these qualifications will be considered stronger candidates:
Experience with analysis and bioinformatics of genome-wide data (SNP-GWAS, exome/whole genome data RNA-seq, ChIP-seq) e.g., in constitutional genomics; experience with primary cell and stem cell tools in functional genomics; experience with mouse models and in vivo phenotyping of vascular or metabolic traits.
Applicants should email a personal research statement, CV, graduate school transcript and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Muredach Reilly: mpr2144@cumc.columbia.edu and program manager Dr. Leila Ross lsr2153@cumc.columbia.edu .
