A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Katherine Aird at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and NCI-Designated UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Multiple projects related to metabolism and epigenetics in senescence and cancer are available, including how these changes affect DNA repair, the tumor microenvironment, and response to therapy. This research will integrate cellular and molecular biology of in vitro and in vivo models of cancer, metabolomics, and high throughput genomics (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, CUT&RUN, etc), and will be executed through multi-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations. More information on our lab, research projects, prior publications, and funding can be found here: airdlab.com

The lab strongly supports both the scientific & professional development of all trainees. There are opportunities to expand into new areas of research for those looking to transition to independence.

The candidate is someone who has recently earned, or nearing completion of, a PhD or equivalent degree in cellular and molecular biology or a related field. Necessary research skills include standard molecular and cellular biology techniques. Prior experience in cancer research is not required. Salary is commensurate with experience and based on current NIH guidelines. Additionally, the candidate may be eligible for a Hillman Postdoctoral Fellowship for Innovative Cancer Research (https://hillmanresearch.upmc.edu/research/hillman-fellows/postdoctoral/).

To apply for a position, qualified candidates should submit a one-page cover letter stating reasons for their scientific interest in the lab and career goals, a curriculum vitae including technical skills, and the names and contact information of three references. Submit your application to: Katherine Aird, PhD at kaa140@pitt.edu. Applications will be reviewed and evaluated on an ongoing basis, following the receipt of all required materials. Applications from women and minorities are strongly encouraged.
