A postdoctoral position is available in Marszalek lab to study folding mechanisms of large, multidomain proteins and their interactions with Hsp70 chaperones using a set of single-molecule biophysical techniques, such as Atomic Force Microscopy and Force Spectroscopy and most importantly, Single Particle-cryogenic Electron Microscopy.

The successful candidate needs to have expertise in molecular biology and protein engineering and purification, and will learn other techniques in Marszalek Lab and more generally at Duke University where cutting edge SP cryo EM facilities are currently available. The candidate will then apply his/her previous skills in protein engineering and the newly gained skills in single-molecule biophysics to study folding and misfolding pathways of large proteins as well as resolving structurally their complexes with relevant chaperones.
