The Stockwell Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University in the City of New York is seeking applicants for a Project and Lab Manager at the rank of Associate Research Scientist. The incumbent will assist in the operations of the Stockwell Laboratory, its cutting-edge research projects and related activities. The incumbent will conduct research and assist the PI in his management of the lab's overall research agenda involving cell and molecular biology, chemical biology, biochemistry and chemistry. Therefore, the incumbent will assist in the writing of manuscripts, progress reports, grant applications, and other documents, and safety and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will also be responsible for orderly maintenance of the laboratory including chemicals, equipment, the animal colony and protocols, the reagent inventory, and other materials essential for the project, as well as human subjects protocols, and monitoring general lab safety practices and radioactive and medical waste. The ideal candidate will be organized, dynamic, enthusiastic, skilled at working with other people, managing collaborations, solving scientific and organizational hurdles, and excited about contributing to scientific discoveries.
Qualifications
Minimum Degree Required: PhD
Field(s) of Specialization: Cell and Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry
Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of laboratory experience required and have established an ability to do biological and/or chemical research
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in conducting related experiments and laboratory and project management.
