Summary

The Mass Spectrometry Proteomics Core (MSPC) at Baylor College of Medicine is hiring a Research Assistant who will help in daily operations of the core and management of customer communications. The employee will coordinate user meetings and perform routine proteomics research work under supervision of senior scientists and core directors. Learning opportunities will be available for sample processing, operation of mass spectrometer instruments, and basic bioinformatics approaches for analysis of proteomics data.

Job Duties

  • Organizes consultation and data review meetings with the customers and maintains project descriptions.
  • Organizes billing records in iLAB (training provided if needed).
  • Performs routine sample processing according to standard protocols utilized by the MSPC.
  • Collects, compiles, and summarizes project data using software, databases, and informatics pipelines established by the MSPC.
  • Documents and reports results of experiments to core directors.
  • Oversees routine maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Participates in research & development efforts under supervision of senior staff and directorship.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
