Summary

The candidate will become familiar with all aspect of the laboratory's computational genomics analysis platform and will help enhance it by developing new integrative tools for big data that draw on statistics, physics, machine learning and genomics analyses.

Job Duties

  • Seamlessly work with specialized and complex database from outside sources or built in-house in our laboratory.
  • Program and apply existing programs within our in-house programing environment.
  • Conceive, implement, test, debug benchmark and deploy within the lab novel algorithms that will mesh with pre-existing complex and specialized suites of algorithms built in house.
  • Gain a detailed, expert-level knowledge of these pre-existing software suites.
  • Interact productively with all lab members to learn from them how we use the code as well as to explain to them how they should use the code the he or she may develop.
  • Help disseminate his/her work through our public-facing website, through slides, through written documents and through internal seminars.
  • Perform statistical analysis with standard software under the direction of the Lab PI.
  • Develop codes for the analysis of mutations in genomes
  • Develop web interfaces to enable the use of these codes
  • Debug these codes.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biological Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in biology and/or mathematics and/or physics and/or chemistry with prior programming fluency.
