POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCIENTIST

The Department of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Scientist for the lab of George Hasko, MD, PhD. The lab is focused on the regulation of immunity by purinergic receptors including ATP and adenosine receptors. The experiments conducted will use cellular and in vivo models of inflammation. An ideal applicant must have solid experience with contemporary techniques and experience with cellular and molecular techniques, including studies in cultured cells and in the isolation of primary cells from the mouse tissues such as liver, spleen, and macrophages. Additionally, the candidate should have expertise in working with mice, preparation of mRNA and protein lysates from tissues and cells, performance of real-time PCR and Western blotting, and gene silencing approaches in cultured cells. Experience in RNA sequencing, in ATAC sequencing, and in CRISPR-Cas9 studies would be ideal. 

The selectee will also assist with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians, and laboratory assistants as required. In addition, the selectee will submit purchase recommendations of equipment and suppliesto his/her supervisor. Additional duties may be assigned as required. 

Qualified applicants must be a recent recipient of a PhD and/or MD awarded within the past three years. The only exception to this requirement is individuals of greater experience who wish to retrain themselves in a new discipline or specialty. The university offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position falls under a collective bargaining agreement.
