The Institute of Integrative Cell Biology and Physiology of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, seeks to fill the position of a

W3-level professorship in cell biology

by 1 February 2023.

The call is addressed to internationally renowned scientists with recognized research achievements in a cutting-edge field of cell biology. Ongoing research activities should be related to the molecular mechanisms of cellular processes at the level of genes, proteins or protein complexes in animal cells, organoids and/or model systems. A combination of experimental and modelling approaches is particularly desirable. The professorship is expected to complement the existing research endeavours pursued within the faculty. Excellent academic achievements, experience in securing third-party funding, as well as substantiated didactic skills are required.

The prospective candidate is expected to contribute to existing collaborative projects in the Faculty of Biology, such as the Collaborative Research Centre 1348 "Dynamic Cellular Interfaces", as well as assume an active role in shaping the newly established "Institute for Integrative Cell Biology and Physiology". We especially wish the candidate to actively collaborate with other research institutions such as the "Multiscale Imaging Centre", the "Cells-in-Motion Interfaculty Centre" or the "Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine".

With regard to teaching responsibilities, the prospective candidate should represent the entire range of cell biology. We expect the candidate to actively participate in teaching activities for the bachelor's and master's programmes of the Faculty of Biology, as well as in the academic self-administration of the University.

Prerequisite for the application are academic achievements made as a Juniorprofessor, in a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.

The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women in academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifications and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities.

The University of Münster is committed to employing more staff with disabilities. Candidates with recognised severe disabilities who have equivalent qualifications are given preference in hiring decisions.

Please submit your application including your curriculum vitae, list of publications, summary of research interests, outline of future research projects and overview of teaching experience by email in a single PDF file by 15 May 2022 to:
