Position Summary

Inspects, verifies and accepts or rejects supplies and equipment delivered to City of Hope loading dock. Collects all necessary paperwork/documentation, such as packing slips, bills of lading, control copies, logs, delivery tickets etc, for tracking purposes. Assists Material Specialists with items for return shipment to involved departments and vendors. Responsible to Warehouse management for the safe, timely and efficient distribution and/or redistribution of materials to the Medical Center's department.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Inspects incoming orders on the dock to verify type, quantity, and condition against orders.
  • Attaches documentation to packages for shipment of materials, parts, finished goods and related items. Collects delivery tickets, shipping records, bills of lading and other documentation for receiving files.
  • Collects documentation concerned with storage and distribution of material including receipts, stock issue requisition copies and signed delivery tickets.
  • Interfaces with the General Stores, CSPT, OR, OSC, Radiology etc to assure that requisitioned supplies are delivered efficiently, timely and in good order.
  • Advises warehouse management of existing or potential conditions that may adversely affect supply and/or equipment receipt or distribution.
  • Monitors vehicle performance and advises management of performance concerns.
  • Delivers supplies, mail and equipment to City of Hope departments on the Duarte campus and off campus (Flower building, Monrovia Administration Center, Development Center, Irwindale Administrative Offices, South Pasadena, Pasadena and Arcadia Clinics and other delivery and pick-up locations as required).
  • Assures accurate completion of delivery documentation.
  • Delivers specialty and priority mail and material according to established procedures and schedules; may include specimens, hazardous materials and cash. Accurately delivers mail, packages and material per address and obtains proper signatures as well as print signatures as required.
  • Drives delivery vehicles in a safe efficient manner.
  • Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as required for events, meetings, and department moves.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • High School or equivalent
  • Two years experience in receiving, warehousing or material handling, prefer health care environment
  • May lift up to 100 pounds of force, and/or up to 50 pounds lifting frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of lifting constantly to move objects.

Required Certification/Licensure:
  • Valid California Driver's License and good driving record for insurance purposes.
