Postdoctoral Fellow

Overview: post-doctoral projects: 1) Computational/bioinformatics of tumors, tumor microenvironment, and immune cells in chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy setting; 2) Functional genomics using high-throughput pipelines, including CRISPR/Cas; 3) Characterize mechanisms of response and resistance to immunogene therapy in cancer patients.

JOB SUMMARY:

We seek enthusiastic candidates for several postdoctoral fellow positions in the laboratory of Dr. Jos Melenhorst, the Vice-Chair of the Center for Immunotherapy at the Cleveland Clinic. The post-doctoral positions are for highly motivated candidates who thrive in a highly collaborative work environment and with a background in immunology, molecular and cellular biology to join a research group focused on immunotherapy research. Projects will involve design of chimeric antigen receptors specific for cell surface and intracellular antigens, functional genomics using genetic and pharmacologic methods, genome engineering, and mouse modeling. Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have strong laboratory and analytical skills. Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or single cell multi-omics would be very helpful.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Conducts research focused on immunotherapy and T cell and genomic engineering.

-Plans, organizes, performs and monitors daily project protocols.

-Collects, prepares and maintains required research documentation.

-Assists with the preparation and delivery of internal/external presentations, conference reports/lectures, progress reports, publishing submissions and grant writing.

EDUCATION:

PhD in an appropriate scientific field such as Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or other similar science major, and/or MD with specialization in oncology/hematology.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Full applications including curriculum vitae, a summary of current and future research interests and expected availability date, a description of past research experience and accomplishments, selected reprints of publications and three references should be submitted to: Jan Joseph (Jos) Melenhorst, PhD, Vice Chair, Center for Immunotherapy and Precision Immuno-Oncology. E-mail: ChanLabRecruitment@ccf.org

Bioinformatics Postdoc Fellow:

Overview: Post-doctoral projects include single cell multiomics data analyses in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell-treated cancer patients.

JOB SUMMARY:

We seek an enthusiastic candidate for a postdoctoral fellow position in the laboratory of Dr. Jos Melenhorst, the Vice-Chair of the Center for ImmunoTherapy & Precision Immuno-Oncology (CITI) at the Cleveland Clinic (CCF), and Dr. Pablo Camara, Assistant Professor of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). The post-doctoral position is for a highly motivated candidate with a background in single-cell multiomic analysis in immunology to join a research group focused on immunotherapy research. Projects will involve the analysis of spectral and mass cytometry data, CITE-seq and 5’ TCR/CITE-seq data, highly multiplexed immunohistochemistry, dimensionality reduction, and clustering analyses. Applicants should hold a PhD in bioinformatics and have a good understanding of T cell immunology. Laboratory experience in molecular biology, immunology, multiplexed immunohistochemistry, or cancer genetics would be very helpful.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Conduct independent, scholarly research focused on T cell and cancer biology via the analyses of multiomic data sets.

-Develop new methods and protocols.

-Contribute to other projects via data analytics.

-Plans, organizes, performs and monitors daily project protocols.

-Collects, prepares and maintains required research documentation.

-Acquire technical, grant writing, and wet lab skills

-Assists with the preparation and delivery of internal/external presentations, conference reports/lectures, and publishing submissions.

EDUCATION:

PhD in bioinformatics, with a focus on single cell multi-omics.

COMPLEXITY OF WORK:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action; must be self-motivated, work well in a team environment, and in a collaborative environment such as created with this position between the Melenhorst and Camara laboratories at Cleveland Clinic and UPenn, respectively. This position will physically be at the Camara lab.

Full applications including curriculum vitae, a summary of current and future research interests and expected availability date, a description of past research experience and accomplishments, selected reprints of publications and three references should be submitted to: Jos Melenhorst, Vice-Chair, CITI, CCF, and Pablo Camara, Assistant Professor of Genetics, UPenn. E-mail: ChanLabRecruitment@ccf.org and pcamara@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.
