The Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT seeks a scientific manager/advisor to oversee multiple internal programs, projects, and activities, including KI centers not otherwise supported (CPCM, Ludwig, MIT Stem Cell Initiative, and the KI Clinical Investigator Program).

 

Will collaborate with the KI director, assistant director for administration (ADA), executive director, and associate directors to administer and deliver internal programs, meetings, events, and special projects to further the KI’s mission and support a culture of collaboration, innovation, and translation; serve as scientific advisor to the director, faculty and ADA with regard to the KI’s NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) and other scientific projects; and work with the director, associate directors, ADA, and core facilities administrator on developmental projects and initiatives, including new strategic planning for new core facilities.  

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least four years of experience in an academic, research, or nonprofit environment
  • Self-motivation
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, financial, administrative, project management, interpersonal, customer service, and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, organize and manage multiple priorities, and anticipate needs
  • Ability to work strategically and take initiative
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and administrators  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (preferably a Ph.D. in biological sciences or engineering)
  • Cancer research background
  •
