A postdoctoral research fellow position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Marina Gorbatyuk in the Department of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Gorbatyuk’s research group is seeking for highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellows to study molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration in animal models. The approaches are ranged from mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry to mouse genetics. In particular, the postdoctoral researcher will investigate cellular signaling pathways involved in retinal pathogenesis of inherited retinal dystrophies and diabetic retinopathy in order to develop novel cell therapeutic strategies.    

Requirements: Applicants should possess a Ph.D, MD or MD/Ph.D in Cell Biology/Physiology/Biochemistry/Genetics, or related fields of Biological Sciences with peer-reviewed publications. Experience with molecular and cell biology methods is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to work in the laboratory as a team player.
