Summary

This is a key supporting role for the VP of Global Health (GH) that will facilitate and support the research vision and strategy of Global Health. This person will assist VP of GH in implementing new technology and devices into developing nations globally and will also support research efforts in our programmatic focus areas.

This position requires work to be done in person and on site.

Job Duties

Job duties are split between 50% program/project management, 35% research activities, 15% HR/administrative/other:

50% Project/Program Management
  • Acts as project manager for global projects - develops plans, creates timelines, gathers information/data, researches compliance regulations, coordinates meetings with collaborators, tracks performance and deliverables, keeps VP, Administrator and collaborators up to date on progress, alerts Administrator on any issues that might affect budgets and/or timelines
  • Grows and supports the Global Health Scholar program by regularly engaging Scholars, search for new potential scholars, look for ways to bring faculty research into GH programs, find synergy between Scholar's research, and assisting them with research activities, managing the Scholar membership list
  • Leads the Global Health Research & Innovation meetings - communicates with faculty on presentations, actively seeks out presentation material and opportunities within BCM and with external collaborators, creates the agenda, acts as moderator, and manages the participant list

35% Research
  • Oversees all research activity
  • Grant research, writing and oversee submission (is not PI)
  • Assist VP on writing publications
  • Oversees collection of qualitative and quantitative data, data analysis, dissemination research results, data entry, all regulatory
  • Writes and administers research surveys in the field
  • Assists VP, GH on patent paperwork and works with Licensing to disclosure patents
  • Attend research conferences (might present at certain conferences)

15% HR/Administrative/Other
  • Researches federal and non-federal grant opportunities, creates submission plans, communicates to investigators and their teams, oversees checklist creation and submission of grants.
  • Supervises Research Coordinators
  • Recruits, mentors and oversees research student volunteers, SMART students, and interns


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Must understand research practices such as, publication authorship, how to coordinate multi-institutional grants and be able to understand grant governance
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., biomedical, engineering)
  • Master's degree or PhD in engineering, public health, business administration
  • Work experience in developing nations (e.g., Africa, Central & South America)
