The Clinical and Translational Neuroscience Section in the Intramural Program of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) is seeking applicants for post-doctoral research fellowships. Our current work has a major emphasis on understanding the metabolic basis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathogenesis using quantitative metabolomics of brain and blood tissue samples. We employ several computational methodologies (i.e., biostatistical, epidemiologic, computer science) on large longitudinal clinical, neuroimaging, cognitive, and metabolomic/proteomic/transcriptomic datasets to identify potential AD drug targets. We are also testing in-silico approaches to drug discovery in AD using analyses of large Electronic Health Record (EHR) datasets. We are additionally pursuing validation of candidate AD drugs using in-vitro phenotypic screening and in-vivo testing in experimental models.   We offer 1) the opportunity to publish extensively in high-impact journals in the medical science fields and 2) collaboration and support in analytic and neuroscience fields within the lab and across the NIA.   The link below provides details on our work: http://www.irp.nia.nih.gov/branches/lpc/ctnu.htm

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have excellent quantitative analytical skills with experience in analyses of 'OMICs' data, an interest in bio-informatics approaches to analyses of 'OMICs' data, or an interest in, in-silico approaches to drug discovery. Excellent writing skills are preferred.

Compensation: Salary is consistent with NIH guidelines and benefits include health, dental and vision insurances, paid time-off, and conference time.

How to Apply:  Please contact the Lab Chief, Madhav Thambisetty MD, PhD at

thambisettym@mail.nih.gov and include 1) A statement or research interests and career goals; 2) full CV; and 3) Contact details of three references who can comment on your analytical expertise and writing skills.
