Job Summary:
  • Henkel Corporation is seeking a Scientific Associate to focus on adhesive development for electronic applications and semiconductor packaging.
  • As a Scientific Associate, the candidate needs to work independently to develop innovative material solutions in response to customer needs.
  • Besides formulation development, the scientist will additionally work with application engineering team to confirm fitness for key end uses and application techniques.
  • Henkel is a leader in adhesives technology and electronic materials.
  • This role is a senior member of a strong and diverse technical team focusing on new product development to help maintaining Henkel's technology leadership position.
  • We are looking for chemists or materials scientists with strong knowledge in knowledge in conductive and non-conductive paste or film adhesive chemistry and product development experience for electronic application
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conceive innovative routes in new product development.
  • Generates test plans and/or experiments.
  • Employ sound experimental designs to effectively develop new materials for electronic applications.
  • Supports R&D projects critical to businesses. Design, develop, execute, and support on-time commercialization of new adhesive formulations and products.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on research projects for internal teams, management, customers, and technical conferences. Acts as an ambassador for the scientific community of Henkel BU
  • Identifies and drives new business development activities. Directly interact and communicate with external customers and respond to customer requests in timely fashion.
  • Contributes to strategic and tactical planning, effectively work in cross functional teams across different time zones with members from product development, project management, application engineering, process engineering, marketing, and sales.
  • Supports road mapping of technology/business development.
  • Understand state-of-art technology advancement and apply it to product development.
  • Generate new intellectual properties.
  • Actively search for new ideas and technology from within or outside.
  • Secures IP position in own area of development
  • Perform all laboratory work in a safe manner and comply with all regulations, safety precautions, PPE requirements.
  • Participates in site's safety and/or 5S programs
  • Guide and mentor junior chemists as needed.

YOUR SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Sciences, Materials Science, or in any other related scientific areas, is highly preferred.
  • Candidate with B.S. degree and a strong track record of >10 years of successful Product Development in the relevant area may be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the areas of conductive and non-conductive paste or film adhesives, thermoset materials, adhesive formulations, electronic materials, or semiconductor packaging is required.
  • Knowledges of adhesive and semiconductor packaging materials for electronic application is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, string oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Recognize sources of problems; absorb new information easily; expose gaps in logic and contradictions; develop effective solutions to technical roadblocks.
  • Proven ability to invent and innovate, and strong ability to design and implement experiments are needed.
  • Professional laboratory skills are essential.
  • The ability to work autonomously on multiple projects is needed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must sit and stand alternately up to as much as 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to occasionally / regularly lift 10 to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly work in a chemical laboratory environment.
  • May require passing additional security screening based on customer requirements.
