Research and Development
This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccine Research and Development - Formulation Development organization. The primary responsibilities are to s upport formulation and process development of vaccine drug product formulations for proteins, glycoconjugates, RNA as well as adjuvants.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute formulation studies to support the development of vaccine formulations.
- The individual will be responsible for calculating how to achieve the desired formulation with basic instructions to deliver targeted formulations in a consistent, timely manner.
- Document experiments, analyze data, provide interpretation and conclusions obtained from formulation development experiments contemporaneously in an electronic notebook.
- Contribute to drafting formulation protocols, dose instructions and technical reports.
- Perform formulation characterization using techniques such as pH, DSC, osmolality, Karl Fischer, particle sizing, and zeta potential.
- The individual will to contribute and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related discipline plus 2 or more years of related work experience, or MS in related discipline.
- Relevant experience in pharmaceutical formulation and process development is a must.
- Experience in formulation development for vaccines, other biologics and adjuvants is preferable.
- Experience in the development of nucleic acid products and their delivery technology platforms is a plus.
- Experience with utilizing various biophysical formulation characterization techniques such as DSC, Zeta Potential, and particle sizing techniques is desired.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across a matrix team.
- Computer proficiency.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standard laboratory conditions - sitting, standing, primarily lab based.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform data analysis.
