A state funded Senior Scientist position is available at Biomanufacturing Research Institute & Technology Enterprise (BRITE), North Carolina Central University (NCCU), Durham, NC. The main responsibilities of this position are to assist Dr. Jiahua (Jay) Xie, Principal Investigator of the BRITE Institute and Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences on various neuroprotection research projects and student training. He/she will work with the PI to generate and analyze research data, and to assist manuscript and grant proposal preparations. He/she will be also required to perform some other duties, such as outreach activity, equipment maintenance, assigned by the BRITE director and department chair.

Candidates must have a strong background in cellular and molecular neuroscience with demonstrated experience in handling of rodents. A PhD/MD degree, or MS/BS degree with minimum five-year working experience is required. Emphasis is on proficiency in conducting neuroprotective studies in rodents, research productivity, and good oral and written communication skills in English. US citizen or permanent residence is also required. Its research focuses are drug discovery and health-related research in areas such as neuroscience, cancer, antimicrobials, cardiometabolic disease, lung disease, and plant genetic engineering. Through Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BRITE offers programs at the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. levels and provides students with scientific competency and laboratory experience to work in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, or to fully prepare them to pursue advanced studies.
