Tenure Track Faculty Position
Department of Biomedical Sciences
University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine

The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNE COM) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. We seek an outstanding individual who will join a growing group of neuroscientists examining the neurobiology of pain across a variety of preclinical models using sophisticated imaging, molecular, and behavioral analyses. We are particularly interested in investigators studying cell signaling utilizing two-photon microscopy and whole-cell electrophysiology techniques. Research space with state-of-the-art instrumentation is available as part of an NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence (https://www.une.edu/research/cobre). The successful candidate will participate in the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary medical curriculum. Maine’s only medical school, UNE COM is located on the southern Maine coast, 90 minutes north of Boston. This faculty position is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track appointment. As a department with core values of diversity, equity and inclusion, successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to working with students holding a range of backgrounds and worldviews. Applicants from historically underrepresented groups in science and medicine are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

A doctoral degree with a minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong publication record is required. Preferred experience in electrophysiology and two-photon imaging, with an interest in teaching medical physiology and/or immunology. Candidates will be responsible for developing a competitive, extramurally funded research program. Additional responsibilities include team-based delivery of an innovative medical curriculum, and providing academic service to the college, university, and profession.

Please include with your application: 1) cover letter, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) research statement [3 pages], 4) teaching statement [1 page], 5) a statement of contributions to promote diversity and inclusion [1 page], and 6) three letters of recommendation. Please arrange to have letters of recommendation sent via email by your recommenders to dbms@une.edu. Applications should be submitted online at: https://une.peopleadmin.com/postings/9221. Review of applications will begin February 7, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. Please email Ian Meng at imeng@une.edu with questions related to this faculty position.
