Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Sep 30 2021 The Genome Biology Department within GSK Functional Genomics is seeking an Investigator with well-documented expertise in CRISPR technologies, application, and analysis in order to develop and apply advanced genetic engineering and functional genomics platforms. The Investigator will function within a highly dynamic team that delivers functional genomics solutions to GSK's Oncology pipeline and will be responsible for establishing a broad methodological tool set for multi-omic disease model characterization or custom genetic screening (CRISPR, RNAi, ORF) applications. Genome Biology spans the interface of human genetics, functional genomics, molecular biology, cellular and tissue profiling, disease model engineering, high content screening and advanced novel tool building. The successful candidate will possess a deep knowledge of methods for CRISPR technologies (CRISPR KO, CRISPRi and CRISPRa) and quality control, as well as operation of standard functional genomics screening and molecular biology. Candidates with hands-on experience in employing single cell technologies, advanced flow cytometry knowledge and CRISPRa/i experience will be prioritized. Proficiency in setting up genome wide CRISPR screens is desirable. Practical understanding of NGS data processing and analytics is a significant plus, as is experience with lab automation. Responsibilities Regular collaboration with the key stakeholders; help group leader to steer project toward goals; and when needed help junior team members Help Reagent development groups, Translational Genomics-affiliated research units and Genome biology groups Broaden the application or improve the quality of cell engineering and functional genomics platforms through effective implementation of CRISPR and other technologies Actively pursue new technology platforms and engage with external partners for access to equipment, reagents, and/or services relevant to gene editing or functional screens Function independently to explore new technologies and share findings in research publications or presentations at renowned conferences Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, Biochemistry, Oncology, Infectious Disease, Regenerative Medicine, Neuroscience, or related fields. 3yrs of post PhD experience with increased responsibilities in academia or industry Experience with preparation and quality control of CRISPR libraries and running of genome wide CRISPR screens Experience in NGS data analytical pipeline and proficiency with, R and PYTHON Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Expertise in related fields as demonstrated by several first author publications in leading journals Proficiency in design and execution of CRISPR activation and/or inhibition screens Working knowledge of NGS platforms (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio, etc.) and their applications Working knowledge of single cell applications including flow cytometry Documented experience with some or all of the following: DNA nucleases (CRISPR, ZFN, TALEN), cell culture, RNA interference, reporter gene assays, molecular cloning, RNA/DNA/protein quantification, epigenetics, lab automation, and/or viral vectors Experience with biostatistics, bioinformatics, and/or advanced data visualization is desirable Experience with cancer cell lines and oncology Pro-active collaborator with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal A passion for technology development and improving workflows Why GSK?
