Tulane University School of Medicine (Tulane SOM) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Physiology.

The Department of Physiology at Tulane University School of Medicine has a strong record of achievement in research and teaching. With over 20 faculty and adjunct faculty, the department's current research efforts include renal, cardiovascular, endocrine, cellular, molecular and neurophysiology, with a major focus on the pathophysiology of hypertension and the role of the renin-angiotensin system.

Reporting to the Dean, School of Medicine, the Chair of Physiology is responsible for overall management of the Department, to include faculty recruitment, educational and research programs, and short- and long-term strategic planning. This Chair will play an instrumental role in shaping the department and have accountability for the department's overall growth, including research enterprise building and enhancement of educational programs and global economic performance.

QUALIFICATIONS: Tulane SOM seeks an accomplished academician and investigator with experience in developing and leading research and educational programs and a record of innovative and effective administrative experience. We seek candidates who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment. Candidates must hold the degree of Ph.D., and possess qualifications for appointment at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Professor.
