Research Fellow in Molecular Metabolism- Danial Laboratory

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Full Time (Up to 1 day remote/week)

A postdoctoral position in molecular metabolism is available in the laboratory of Nika Danial, PhD. The Danial lab  investigates the metabolic mechanisms that regulate cellular and organismal adaptation to physiologic and pathologic stress conditions. Within this context, we study fundamental aspects of metabolic biology, including causes and consequences of cellular fuel utilization patterns and how processing of carbon substrates translates into specific metabolic signals that shape cell fate and function. To this end, we apply multi-disciplinary approaches that draw on biochemistry, mitochondrial physiology, chemical biology, proteomics and metabolomics. This research program has led to advancements in understanding anabolic and catabolic mechanisms that link altered cellular fuel usage to diseases such as cancer, diabetes and seizure disorders.

Several projects are currently available, including investigation of 1) metabolic crosstalks between inflammatory immune cells and target tissues; 2) cell autonomous and non-autonomous mechanisms underlying fuel utilization patterns and their control of tumor growth; 3) transcriptional control of lipid homeostasis by glucose/carbohydrates; and 4) glucose versus ketone body fuel decisions and the control of neuronal fate and function.

Requirements:

  • Postdoctoral Fellow in training in Danial Lab.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and have excellent track record of scientific research supported by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Basic cell and molecular biology experience.
  • Background in metabolic biochemistry and/or mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and experience with mouse models are especially preferred.
