Bing Center for Women Senior Scientist

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Full Time (Up to 1 day remote/week)

The Bing Center for Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia (BCWM) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is seeking an experienced senior level scientist to lead the center’s translational studies. The candidate will lead a group of 3-5 technicians and staff scientists to investigate new drug therapies made possible by ongoing genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic revelations at the center. The candidate should have advanced knowledge in signaling studies, including gene transduction, co-immunoprecipitation experiments, evaluation of kinase activity, in vitro and in vivo drug efficacy evaluation including animal pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and toxicology studies. The candidate will actively work with the medicinal chemistry team at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute to develop new drug candidates.

Requirements:

  • Lead the design and execution of experiments to deliver a diverse set of data findings, including targeted and non-targeted steady-state structures as well as time-line analysis.
  • Provide scientific and technical leadership to promote therapies for the BCWM and among the Institute’s academic and industry collaborators.
  • Use both commercial and proprietary informatics/software tools for analysis of complex data for current and future drug development for WM.
  • Oversee and guide the scientific and technical staff and create a positive, supportive work environment within the BCWM labs.
  • Interact proactively with senior investigators and be able to have a wide latitude for decision making in working in conjunction with the senior investigators.

Qualifications:

  • The candidate should hold a PhD in biological sciences, or biochemical engineering sciences plus at least two years of post-doctoral training. Industry research experience (bio/pharma R&D, metabolic engineering, synthetic biology) is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience with laboratory data analysis, instrument operation, and instrument maintenance.
  • Excellent track record of scientific research showing evidence of both analytical excellence and ability to address biology questions with depth, rigor, and creativity, as in peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and patent filings.
  • Informatics skills are a significant plus, and more generally, aptitude operating within an informatically-driven research environment.
  • Fulfill requirements for appointment as a Senior Staff Scientist at the DFCI.
